What Fishwise does

Fishwise identifies fish from a photo anywhere in the United States. Size, season and bag limits are currently available for Wisconsin only and are sourced from the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources. Outside Wisconsin, Fishwise says that limits are not available rather than showing information it cannot verify.

Free use

Fishwise includes 5 free identifications when you install the app, plus 3 more each week. No account or sign-in is required. Regulations, keep or release verdicts and size comparison are free for everyone and are never gated.

Subscriptions and purchases

Apple subscriptions are managed in your iPhone Settings under your Apple Account. To restore a purchase, use Restore purchases at the bottom of the upgrade screen in Fishwise.

Fish identification is an AI estimate, not a certainty. The regulations shown are informational only and have no legal force or effect. Always confirm the species and check the current Wisconsin DNR handbook before keeping any fish.
